Well, I changed the layout once again. I like this better than the butterflies. Anyway, I still have not gone to the gym; however, I think that I will be able to make it a part of my weekly routine before too long. I am feeling sooo much better now that I have been eating well. I have been paying very close attention to my calories and have been trying to stay under 1,500. It's not been all that hard to do and it's made me realize that I have been eating way too much.
Here's a sample of what I've been eating:
glass of orange juice
Malt 'O Meal made w/skim milk
fat-free cottage cheese
turkey sandwich w/fat-free cream cheese & blackberry chutney
whole wheat rigatoni w/ marinara & steamed veggies
Total Calories: 1,350
I'm also trying to pay attention to the fat and the carbs somewhat. I also pay close attention to the serving size. It never seems like that could possibly be enough food, but it always fills me up just fine. I have a mentality of needing more food than I do. I'm slowly getting over that.
So what have you been eating? Have you gone to the gym yet? What have you been writing in your journal? Are you going to use your online one for anything?
Let me know when you will be done next and how everything is going.
PS-Way to go on losing 5 lbs!!!

My starting weight was 161 and my current weight is 156.
1/9/06 02:31 pm - bigmona - Yea!!! Weight loss has occurred...
Well, I have supposedly lost 12 pounds, however, I think most of that was just pseudo weight I gained from gorging over the holidays. It's those pounds that you put on easily but lose easily as well. I don't necessarily feel like I've accomplished much, but at least it's a change in the right direction.
I do have to say that I have been feeling better. I seem to have more energy and do not get tired as easily. Like right now...I opened this morning (5 am) and went to bed at around 1 am last night. So I essentially got only three hours of sleep. Anyway, normally I would have been dragging all day at work and then come home and gone right to bed, but I don't really feel all that tired and work was a cinch. I also feel thinner simply because I'm not all bloated and uncomfortable like I am when I over-eat and/or eat the "wrong" things.
I am torn about working out tonight. I know I should, but if Nathan doesn't play basketball then I definitely won't. Also, I do have a ton of laundry to do thanks to the "laundry throwing incident" that happened when you were at our house. I could do the laundry vigorously and call it a workout. Just kidding. Anyway, regardless of whether or not I work out today, I need to go for sure tomorrow. Tomorrow night is "Margarita Night" with my friend Marilee and while the calories shouldn't be a problem if I watch myself all day and then that night, I will feel much better about the whole thing if I work out. Maybe I can get Nathan to go with me after I get off, because he'll be off too.
Well, good luck this week. Just weigh yourself tomorrow morning and tell me the details so I can adjust your counter. You'll have to tell me all your info again like your starting weight and your goal weight because I didn't write it down anywhere.
1/8/06 09:30 pm - bigmona - Weighing in...
Tomorrow morning we need to weigh ourselves as early as possible. I go to work at 5 am, so I'll try to do it before then. I've been eating pretty good, but tonight we went to P F Chang's with mom and the three of us split a couple dishes. It wasn't too bad for me, but I could have done better. If I had been thinking about it all day, I would have really watched the calories earlier and had some to spare for dinner.
I have yet to get to the gym. As usual, it's one thing after another. I want to go tomorrow, but since all of my gym clothes seem to be dirty, I guess I won't be able to go until tomorrow evening. That will actually work out fine since Nathan usually plays basketball on Monday evenings and then I can go workout while he's doing that.
I don't know what time you usually go to bed, but they say you shouldn't eat at least three hours before you go to bed. This is supposed to really help with your metabolism and weight loss. Nathan's cousin was doing this for a while (she wouldn't eat anything after like 6 or 7 pm) and she lost quite a bit of weight. Unfortunately, with our schedules, I don't think I would be able to stick to something like this very well. I didn't know if it would work better for you or not.
PS-Have you used your new pot? If we come across any easy, healthy, tasty recipes, we should share them. I'll give you one tomorrow.

Did you go to the gym today? What did you do? I am going later. I'm waiting for Kevin to get home.

Check out the new layout of our journal! Do you like it?
1/3/06 11:08 pm - bigmona - ATTENTION!!!
We will weigh ourselves on Mondays (preferrably first thing after you wake up). And then report it here and I will change our trackers.
I also think it might be useful to start having mini-goals such as smaller amounts we want to lose by certain dates or being able to do x amount of crunches after 30 days, etc, etc.

I want to lose at least 3 to 5 pounds a week. I didn't go to the gym yesterday, I will try to go today. I try to go later so there is no one else there.
1/3/06 12:40 pm - bigmona - Small goal...
I want to lose at least 20 lbs. by Valentine's Day. That's approx. six weeks from now. That's an average of 3.33 lbs. a week. I think I can do it.
PS-I was going to try and workout today, but didn't get around in time. I'm off tomorrow, so I have all day to go and therefore no real excuse not to. I WILL GO TOMORROW!!
